该种在李跃进（2011）和红色名录中有记录。此物种属于白绒拟鬼伞C. lagopus复合群，复合群内很复杂可能包含超过9个物种，而我国鬼伞类较新的研究中并无此种的相关记载，因此该物种可能属错误鉴定，但还需要对相关标本进一步研究才能确认。
一些学者所称的“C. lagopides”实为琼斯拟鬼伞C. jonesii，白绒拟鬼伞复合群的一员。
